About Ron
Ron Zimmerman, a self-taught natural history photographer for over 40 years, has taught workshops in Alaska’s Inside Passage and many national parks including Denali, Katmai, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Zion, and Bryce Canyon, to name a few. He has led dogsled tours in the Boundary Waters National Park. He was chosen as a lead teacher at Tremont Institute in the Great Smoky Mountains every spring and fall for seven years. Internationally, he has led tours in the Galapagos Islands, Scotland, and Ireland.
Ron is an award-winning nature and wildlife photographer and was on the educational committee for the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). He has volunteered his time for photojournalistic projects in Brazil, South Africa, and India with many published images chosen for articles and books.
Sharing his love for photography is what propels him to teach. He loves to see people get excited about capturing a subject in new ways and new places. Helping his clients take home images that they will be proud to display in their homes is his major goal. Participants will spend time discussing techniques and looking at their images to share with the group for constructive critiques and praises. Ron loves to dive into all formats of photography, everything from film and digital to smart phones. His love for nature, wildlife, landscapes, streetscapes, and people will become evident in your time spent together. Currently, Ron is the Education and Events Coordinator at Gene’s Camera in South Bend, Indiana.
