About Tom & Cree

Tom and Cree have been guiding trips together for over 25 years, and both are passionate photographers. Their teaching philosophy is simple; ‘teach the student, not the subject.’ They love teaching and helping others develop their creativity and technical skills. Their trips often sell out well in advance. Tom has been called one of America’s visionaries for his photography by National Geographic Adventure, and he is a frequent contributor to many photography magazines.

He has taught hundreds of workshops over the past 25 years, and is a KelbyOne Instructor. Photo District News called him one of the best photography workshop teachers in America. You can watch his backstory here http://vimeo.com/120904640.

His images have been published worldwide by hundreds of clients, and his assignment work ranges from editorial travel features to national tourism campaigns.

Cree taught high school photography for twelve years, and her students regularly won national awards for their work. She runs a portrait photography business, and is known for her evocative images and friendly nature. She loves to experiment in post processing, and is often sought out for help with Lightroom and Photoshop.  She is a veteran traveler and speaks 4 languages.

Tom and Cree actively shared their photography expertise. I learned some new tricks and techniques to advance my photography. Local guides knowledge was invaluable. Lots of positive energy from all 3 guides. The big planned agenda items came off without a hitch for the quests. In the background the guides were working overtime to ensure it all happened smoothly. Along the way, the guides took advantage of impromptu opportunities we encountered with spontaneous side trips like the bat cave, opportunities in Ronda, flamingo school, etc. That made the trip extra special!

Your local guide was amazing! Planned beautifully – smart, always pleasant – knowledgeable. Food was good everywhere. Inn keepers were very kind and pleasant. Your pre-departure information was so complete and interesting. Trip was very well planned and excecuted. When we needed to alter plans, it was done with ease and professionalism.

Your preparatory materials are always excellent and this trip was no exception. Both John and I appreciate greatly your efforts to get us caught up to the group when our flight was delayed. Your local guide also had everything in order upon arrival. He is an incredible find. Very competent, knowledgeable, and is excellent at working with a diverse group of people. Knowledgeable photographer as well. Photo leader was also top nothc, Multi-taking from very basic questions to more advanced camera techniques without losing a beat.

“The trip to Tanzania went far beyond our already high expectations!  Each day was filled with wonder and excitement – we lost track of time and moved into a world beyond imagining.  You were super hosts and made our visit even more special – something we will always remember!!”

Iceland was simply amazing. Strabo’s arrangements were great. We saw all the amazing well known sights in Iceland as well as some incredible ‘off road’ beautiful areas. Tom Bol as always is a great photography teacher. Offers suggestions and teaches every day. Helpful and friendly to all.

This was a really good trip. It offered a great balance of architecture, landscape and street shooting that met my needs as one who loves travel photography. I feel like I had a wonderful introduction to Turkey. In part, the credit also goes to your internal guides who clearly love their country and can communicate that love successfully. I strongly recommend this trip. Thank you.

Having been to numerous workshops over the past 5 years, Tom has to be my favorite instructor. With Tom you are guaranteed 3 things – an in-depth knowledge of photography and lighting with an ability and desire to share this with participants, energy and lots of it, and FUN! Tom loves spending time with his students and getting to know each one, as to maximize the workshop for each person. A workshop with Tom is time well spent.
