Join Brenda Tharp on an incredible journey in Slovenia and experience the magic of winter. Winter snows and ice transforms an already photogenic country into a magical wonderland – you won’t want to miss this! Stay flexible in your itinerary, to make the best of winter conditions Explore Triglav National Park, to get you to all the best spots to photograph stunning alpine scenery, frozen waterfalls, glacial lakes and frosty wintry scenes of hilltop churches.
Brenda has been to Slovenia three times in Autumn and loves it, and this time, she’s looking forward to exploring in another magical time of year: Winter. The locations are some of the same iconic spots, but they’ll look a lot different! Also explore other areas that the local guide knows well, for their value as winter locations. So we are in great hands on this winter tour. Winter light is great, and with short days you can capture both sunrise and sunset easily and work in between in various locations. At night return to the warmth of your cozy lodging to review our pictures and share a hearty dinner.
What to expect: This tour is outdoor oriented and there will be a moderate amount of walking involved. Some of the paths are off-track and we recommend sturdy walking shoes. There may be a limited amount of uphill walking. If clients have health issues they should tell us in advance so we can plan activities for them with an easier level of walking. Slovenia is a very safe country, and you will find the people very welcoming. There is a great mixture of Mediterranean, Alpine, Hungarian, and Balkan cuisine with a local touch. Most of the food is organic and locally produced. While designed for the intermediate and advanced photographer, Brenda welcomes any skill level, as she knows everyone will enjoy the photography in Slovenia. Brenda is there to help anyone make his or her best pictures. Participants should know how to use their specific cameras, and have a working knowledge of the basics of photography – shutter, aperture, exposure, etc. The itinerary will guide us, but we also make unscheduled stops for discoveries along the way, with an eye for the group’s interests. You can plan to be out for early and late light when weather and schedules permit.
Please join tour leader Brenda Tharp for this incredible photographic opportunity. The emphasis of the trip is on photography, days will be filled with unique opportunities. There are so many wonderful hidden places to explore. Your leader will seek out obscure settings to visit and photograph, places you would not find on your own.
Lodges have best possible photographic locations. Clients literally just walk out of hotel and start taking photos. You will experience great food & wine along the way. All lodging has Wi-Fi available. We have chosen all locations with the most important thing in mind – getting to the right location at the right time.
What was the highlight of your trip? Brenda – she was great. Efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, continually involved with all of us.
